Most people around the world prefer to use numbers and certain place names for passwords. The most used password in the world in 2023 is ‘12346’.
Password management solutions company NordPass recently claimed that users are increasingly using weak passwords for their streaming accounts.
It is reported that ‘India@123’ tops the list of most used passwords in India. There is another password, which many people use and they don’t want to change that password day after day. That is, ‘Admin’.
It has been found to be used as a common password in other countries of the world. Last year’s world-winning ‘Password’ is still being used by internet users. Passwords such as ‘Password’, ‘Pass@123’ and ‘Password@123’ have also been widely used in India this year.
According to the report, almost a third of the world’s most popular passwords consist of numerical sequences, such as ‘123456789’, ‘12345’, ‘000000’ and others. It also noted that 70 percent of the passwords on this year’s list could be cracked in less than a second.
Researchers are asking the general public to be more aware of passwords. In addition to that, for better security, researchers are recommending the use of passkeys instead of passwords.
