Polder Land is a low land separated from the sea by dam and has no contact with the outside water of the dam except manually operated devices

“Dutch says a joke, “”God created the earth and the Dutch created the Netherlands.” The Land Reclamation Project of the Dutch is the largest and most powerful project in the world. The Netherlands is the most frequent-spoken country in Europe. That’s why Dutch collected many large land from the sea and from the lake since the 1600s. About one-third of the country’s land has been collected from the sea. It was very surprising to see their Polder land. Standing on the Polder land, the ship on the sea water near the dam is much higher, because we stood far below the sea level. Currently, 9,000 polder zones are in the Netherlands. This Unic Landscape is the best in the world.

Polder Land is a low land separated from the sea by dam and has no contact with the outside water of the dam, except manually operated devices. They first separate land with water or water from the main sea by damning the sea. Then they pumped water from this surrounded land and thrown into the sea. Windmill was used extensively for this purpose. They then left this land for many years. Drops for many years result in decreasing land salt and the sand of the land is accumulated on the soil. Initially grass was cultivated on that land. Later the land is slowly deserved. These land is very fertile day by day and thus they are working for the second largest food exporter in the world.

There are three types of Polders in the Netherlands –
1) Land rescued from the sea or any other waterway. such as lake, river or sea.
2) Flooding land that is separated from the sea or river by dam.
3) Low water-land which is separated from the water source nearby. They are called koogs in Germany.

Most of the land in the Netherlands without river or marine dam would have been flooded. Most of the Netherlands’ parts have been recovered from the sea and these land are actually located under sea level. The dams built on sea-coiling protect these low land from floods. The Netherlands is actually a low land. The word Netherlands means a low land or country. Only 50% of these land are located three feet high from the sea surface. The polder land or land are always below the level of water in the side sea or lake. Water in the lower pollder areas, for various reasons, such as rainwater or other sources, which are pumped into the sea through the Sluice gate.

Polder land is always at risk of flooding. So the dies are carefully taken care of and tested regularly. At different times, dams were made in different places with the things found in that place. And every thing has a sort of risk. For example, sand is used in some areas, which can absorb water and damage the dye or dry pit, which is light than water, which can lose the ability to contain water during the dry season. Many times different animals or aquatic animals (muskrat) can dig tunnel which can cause water to move under the dam floor. Some European countries have suffered muskrat for this reason.

When water rises from the sea, the dam can weaken. The Netherlands suffered a lot of damage in the flood of 1953. As a result, the Dutch began to take new types of initiatives to protect from the flood. They change the designs of the dams based on new information.

Here are some information about the land of the Netherlands:
26% of the land is below the sea level.
21% of the population lives in the lower area of the sea level.
50% of the area is only one meter above sea surface.

Flevoland is the most recent manufacturer of Polder Land Province, which was prepared in 1986. They were rescued from the sea in 1950 and 1960.
