An inmate at the Port-Cartier Institution on Quebec’s North Shore was seriously injured in the attack, Correctional Services Canada said. The organization said that the prisoner was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The agency said the attacker has been identified. Appropriate action has also been taken against him. However, they did not give any more information in this regard.
Quebec provincial police are also investigating the attack. Correctional Services Canada said safety is their first priority and will review the circumstances surrounding the attack to prevent similar incidents in the future.
