Some Google Maps users in Canada have complained that provincial parks have been labeled as state parks. Rachel Deren wrote, stating that many who noticed this were unsettled. “This is an attack on our Canadian identity. I want to highlight this disgraceful display as an act of American aggression against Canadian culture and sovereignty.”

She mentioned that Canadian Google Maps users have reported this mistake to the tech giant. “As Canadians, we are proud, and despite such attempts from our hostile neighbor, we will remain so.”

Among the provincial parks mislabeled as state parks are Mount Robson Park, Wellboat Island Marine Provincial Park, and Pinecone Burke Provincial Park. Users have shared screenshots of these parks, which CTV News has verified.

Another user, Samantha Gietema, said that the tech giant has removed the provincial park category from the app.

In a statement sent to CTV News, a Google spokesperson said that no recent changes have been made to the labels on Google Maps.
