Why is the president still in office?

The current President Shahabuddin is surviving because of the support of the army.

Without the support of the army, it would not have been possible for President Shahabuddin Chuppu to survive for so long. He should have resigned long ago.

Earlier, anti-discrimination student coordinators had surrounded Bangabhaban to force the president to resign. But they could not succeed at that time. Because, not many people gathered at that time for their call. Especially BNP did not respond to it. And at that time we saw that the president was given impeccable security. This security net was mainly spread by the army.

The student coordinators’ intention at that time was that if President Shahabuddin was removed, they would abolish the constitution and form a revolutionary government and the country would be run by the decree of a revolutionary command council without a constitution. In that case, they would also dismiss Army Chief Waqar-uz-Zaman on some pretext and appoint an army chief of their own choosing. The other two army chiefs would also be dismissed and they would appoint people of their choice there too. If they were able to do that at that time, they would have planned to stay in power for a long time.

But that did not succeed at that time, rather their plan failed miserably at that time.

The reason for uttering so many words is that on December 31, they are moving forward with their previous plan.

As far as I understand, on December 31, the anti-discrimination student coordinators may declare the current constitution, which they have named the Mujibist constitution, null and void.

And on this day, Jamaat Shibir will basically organize a large gathering of people. Even if BNP does not have much support, their representatives will be present.

The question is, what will happen if the student coordinators declare the current constitution null and void?

If the current constitution is abolished, there will be no President Shahabuddin, no interim government.

The country will be run by a revolutionary government. This revolutionary government will currently include the interim government. They will appoint a new president.

But before making such an announcement, have the anti-discrimination student coordinators thought about whether other departments of the state will accept their announcement? Will the three service chiefs be run under them?

What will happen if the anti-discrimination student coordinators make such an announcement and other departments of the state do not accept that announcement?

Will Army Chief Waqar-uz-Zaman accept that announcement? If he accepts, he will also be removed at some point. Waqar-uz-Zaman knows that very well.

What will happen if President Shahabuddin clings to his position in support of the army after such an announcement by the anti-discrimination student coordinators?

So, any such rash decision can bring serious consequences for them.

If the announcement is not followed, it will be embarrassing for them too.
