It is a movie, which is not just a science fiction, but an emotional journey based on mother’s love, search for self-identity and hard reality. The main character of the story is Rose, a robot, who accidentally lands on an island and gradually befriends the wild animals there. But at first no one takes him well because of his strange nature. Everything changes when she begins to look after the egg of a goose (a type of migratory bird) and from that egg hatches the little Brightbill.

Rose and Brightbill’s relationship is the source of the movie’s main emotion. Despite being a robot, Rose does her best to keep Brightbill alive, teach him to fly, and take care of him. This relationship is so deep that we finally see how a mother-child relationship can develop between technology and nature. Another important character in the movie is a fox named Fink, who is initially selfish but gradually becomes Rose’s friend.

One of the best aspects of the movie is its animation, which feels like a living painting. The entire environment of the movie is so beautifully depicted that every animal’s fur or feather design is hand painted. In one word, the movie is eye-opening.

Moreover, the depth of the story and the aesthetics of the relationship between the characters make the audience emotional. The distance and reunion between Rose and Brightbill is one of the film’s most emotional moments.

However, I feel a little annoyed that some unnecessary villains (robots) are added towards the end for extra drama, which might slow down the whole story a bit.

However, overall the movie is the best animated movie of 2024 for me.

This movie shows how technology and love can come together to create an extraordinary story.
