Talking about self care and mental health in Toronto

About 450 million people in the world are currently suffering from mental illness. According to the Center for Addiction and Mental Health (camh), one in five people in Canada has a mental health problem. 4,000 Canadians die by suicide alone each year.

This rate may be higher among Bengalis living in Canada. However, like other physical problems, mental problems can be fully cured with proper counseling and treatment. But many people do not understand when they should consult a doctor because of complications such as physical pain. Mental, family or social taboos also stand in the way.

Realizing the importance of the issue, the Canadian Center for Information and Knowledge organized a virtual discussion meeting. It will take place on Saturday, August 26, at 11 a.m. Toronto time. This arrangement is under the federal government’s New Horizon for Seniors program.

The event will focus on how #seniors in the Canadian community deal with or take precautions against mental health issues. You are invited to the event.
