McIntosh grabs 2nd gold of Fukuoka in women’s 400m IM

Summer McIntosh turned into a twofold gold medallist at the world aquatics titles with Sunday’s triumph in the ladies’ 400-meter individual mixture.

In the wake of winning the 200-meter butterfly prior in the title, the 16-year-old from Toronto timed four minutes, 27.11 seconds in front of silver medallist Katie Grimes of the U.S. in 4:31.41.

Jenna Forrester of Australia won bronze in 4:32.30.

McIntosh also helped Canada win bronze in the women’s 4 x 100 medley relay, finishing behind Australia and the USA, who won the gold medal.

Kylie Masse, of Ontario’s LaSalle, Sophie Angus of Weston, Conn., and Maggie Macintosh Neil of London, Ont., also ran in the final on Sunday.

Calgary’s Ingrid Wilm and Mary-Sophie Harvey of Trois-Rivieres, Que., dashed for Canada in the transfer’s warms.
