New crew members are being added at Toronto Pearson International Airport

Toronto Pearson International Airport is adding new crew members to ensure safety on the runway at Canada’s busiest travel hub. Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) officials unveiled the new airport vehicle on Tuesday. According to them, this is the first vehicle of its kind.

Toronto Pearson can boast of being a leader in investing in technology. This technology will enhance the efficiency of our operations.

GTAA said the electric vehicle is capable of automatically identifying safety issues on runways, taxiways and safety walls. Once such a problem is identified, the vehicle can report it to the airport staff.

Airports are under constant pressure to ensure the safety of passengers, aircraft and operations, Tosan said. We’re always working with industry-leading partners to drive investment in safe and efficient airports for everyone.

However, no specific date has been given as to when the robot will be officially deployed. In a video released by GTAA, the vehicle is seen scanning a security wall and detecting various objects as it goes. Further testing and regulatory issues will be reviewed before it is deployed. It will be completed by 2025.

Airport, Honda, Illuminex AI, Zenware Technologies, Cisco and Eagle Aerospace jointly developed the robot. It can be controlled remotely.
