An emergency physician in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) is urging residents to get a Covid-19 booster. He made this call after the number of Covid-19 patients admitted to the hospital increased.
York Region Emergency Physician Dr. Steve Flindall said, “I have seen quite a few of my own patients come down with Covid-19.” Dr. Some of Flindal’s patients are among the most vulnerable. All three of my patients diagnosed with Covid-19 were elderly people with co-morbidities that put them at high risk of complications.
Many people in the province are falling seriously ill with what they believe is a cold-related problem. However, it is not a common cold, Dr. Flindall. “Many people I have met and tested for Covid don’t even know the problem is still there,” he said.
Recent data suggests Covid-19 vaccination lags Only 16.9 per cent of Canadians aged five and over have received the latest booster dose, according to data from Public Health Canada.
Dr. Flindal said the Ontario government has stopped monitoring Covid-19. They stopped the wastewater test. You also won’t get a pill covid test kit in Hajj and it will be difficult to get paxlovid if you are diagnosed with covid.
Dr. Flindall said that the patients he has treated recently are related to the victims. Unfortunately, none of them had received the latest vaccine. Two of the three patients who had to be hospitalized had not received any vaccine for two years.
In addition to Covid-19, doctors are also keeping an eye on other common viruses. Schools are out and parents are planning to go on family vacations. Doctors say now is the best time to update children’s vaccines.
