The caretaker government was tricked

BNP and Jamaat had filed a review petition in the Supreme Court to bring back the caretaker government system.

I was a little bit confused about the matter.

I have often wondered why BNP and Jamaat would make such a fuss to bring back the caretaker government system?

Are they so pious that they will bring back the caretaker government system and allow a fair election?

The answer to this is “no”.

BNP and Jamaat no longer want a caretaker government. That is why they are repeatedly asking the court for time and postponing the hearing. They are now seeking elections under Dr. Yunus.

In particular, BNP has now calculated that elections under a caretaker government could be risky for BNP. Because, if a caretaker government is established, they will try to create a level playing field by giving equal opportunities to all parties. Then the Awami League will get the opportunity to do politics freely again. They will be able to enter the field again. They will get equal opportunities like all parties in the election campaign. There is also a fear for the BNP that if the elections are fair and impartial, their victory could slip away.

Considering all these calculations, BNP is now interested in holding elections under this interim government. Because, this government is extremely hostile to Awami League. This government is so hostile to Awami League that they are not allowing Awami League to stand. They are trying to suppress Awami League everywhere. Therefore, if elections are held under this government, Awami League will not get an equal opportunity like other parties. There will be a level playing field for other parties but not for Awami League. They will even face various obstacles in proper election campaigning. They will also be subjected to hostility in the selection of candidates by the Election Commission in the elections. And there is absolutely no possibility of fair elections under this government. At least they will not allow Awami League to come in any way.
Therefore, BNP thinks that it is better to hold elections under this interim government than under a caretaker government.

Therefore, they are postponing the hearing of the review petition on the pretext of seeking time. This hearing was supposed to be held on January 19. The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has postponed the next hearing date to February 9 as BNP sought more time. I think this date will also be postponed. If it is postponed like this, it will not see the light of day. It does not seem that the Supreme Court will order a hearing on its own initiative to prevent the postponement of the hearing date unless the review petitioners want to have a hearing voluntarily.

However, another fear of BNP is also at work in holding elections under this interim government.

That is, Jamaat, Shibir and a militant group are active behind this interim government. This government is being influenced and run by these forces. This government is bound by their sphere of influence. Therefore, if elections are held under the interim government, they can use the mechanism in the elections to bring Jamaat and other Islamic parties to power.

But if that happens, BNP will be caught here too.

So the party is now in a terrible mess. It is in a huge mess. It is like a saw with a cone. It cuts here and there.

All these concerns were raised in Tareq Zia’s virtual meeting yesterday. However, he will not give so many details. The leaders and workers will have to understand the matter.

In the meantime, we also analyzed the unspoken words a little.
