Powerful person person of power

Many people know about the Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh or REHAB. I don’t know if the current members of the REHAB committee are still in office or if there has been a change! Because all these people have been doing whatever they wanted, using their party affiliation and power. No one had any control over them or held them accountable. For the first time, I have seen that with the fall of a government, almost everyone in government institutions has either fled, resigned, or been dismissed. This is rare in world history. Not only rare, but it hasn’t happened in the last hundred years. This happened due to the ugly politicization. It happened because of rampant corruption and lack of accountability. Corrupt people had entrenched themselves in all government institutions. From the highest to the lowest positions in the state, everyone was deeply involved in corruption.

For the past fifteen years, REHAB has been in the same situation. We are the victims. Many others like us too. My wife inherited a plot in Nikunja, Dhaka. In 2014, a medium-sized builder was given the job of building. The agreement was to deliver the flat within 36 months. But even after 11 years, the work has not been completed. The lift has not been installed, the full signing money has not been paid, and the agreement to pay 50,000 taka per month as rent if the work is not completed on time has also been violated, and very low-quality rods, cement, tiles, and other construction materials have been used. Despite complaining to REHAB several times about this, nothing has happened. The reason is that the developer was an Awami League member, a director of REHAB, and was finally elected as an MP in the reserved women’s quota in Parliament. I heard that she has been arrested in a murder case and is now in jail.

About last year. I am visiting Barisal. I am having tea at a restaurant on the other side of Taltali. With me is my friend Panna. Suddenly a call came to my country number. known people Once there was a lot of affinity. Now MP may not talk like that. I prefer to keep a distance from powerful people. Can’t take the heat of the powerful. I hesitated to pick up the phone or not.

What news Vaisab! What do you suddenly think?
Come to the country do not give a knock. never give
I laughed and said, knocking or not!
Must give.
Where did you get the phone number!
My network is very strong, get it.
So I see. Don’t call without any reason, I know. tell me the reason
My daughter’s wedding next month, your invitation.
Mashallah! Accept the invitation if I am in Dhaka then. Going to Singapore.
must come If not, I will bring it.
I jokingly said, bring it today!
of course I will bring the phone truck to the police.

I did not necessarily go to the wedding. However, this relative of mine did not get the nomination in the one-sided election held by Awami League in January this year. That day I saw in the newspaper that he was banned from traveling abroad.

So I say it is good to be powerful but if the structure of power is not right, its consequences are very bad. Politics should only be for the welfare of the people. Corruption, nepotism, personal and group worship, revenge never bring welfare. But none of us have lessons from the past. Without self-criticism or self-repentance, I make the same mistakes again and again. And people have to pay for this.
