I still cannot understand why this government wasted its mandate. This government had the opportunity to do something different. But instead of going in that direction, they have lost their public support through various controversial activities.
They could have built a building of success on the various failures of the previous government. But they did not take that path. The people gave them that opportunity. The opportunity given by the people was something that does not come even in a hundred years. There is no point in losing such an opportunity.
People expected a lot from Yunus. His personality, education, international fame, various inspirational speeches he gave in the international arena inspired people. His various ideas attracted people. His theory of three zeros created a huge stir in the international arena. Zero unemployment, zero poverty, zero air pollution; the desire for these three zeros raised a lot of hope in the minds of people.
He can speak English fluently. He can give excellent speeches in English. As a result, it was very easy for him to promote Bangladesh in the world and increase the status of Bangladesh. Among them, his Nobel Prize took him to a unique height. By selling his image in the world, he could bring a lot of investment to Bangladesh,
All in all, such a personality is rare in Bangladesh.
People expected something different from such a personality. People thought that he would change Bangladesh. He would come out of the traditional political trend of Bangladesh and create a new trend.
But he did not step in that direction. He remained within the traditional framework. He could not show anything different, but did such things and actions that countless people who were in favor of the Liberation War became angry with him. The question has been raised in the minds of the people whether he is actually a person in favor of our Liberation War and the independence of Bangladesh.
He did not need to do so much. The people gave him two mandates:
1) State reforms
2) Reforms and a fair election
If he had proceeded based on these two mandates given by the people, he could have maintained his public support.
His success could have erased the previous government from the minds of the people. He could have created an example of state reforms through his activities.
But he did not go in that direction. Now it seems that his main task is to take revenge. Where is Joy Bangla, where is Awami League, where is Sheikh Hasina; all these are his main targets. Erasing all the history where Awami League and Bangabandhu are mentioned is a big project of his government. Since Awami League and Bangabandhu are present in the history of Ekattur, their vision and mission is to erase a part of Ekattur.
But history says that nothing can be erased in this way, names and marks cannot be erased in this way. The more they try to erase history, the stronger their mark will be, the more they oppress, the stronger they will be, the more they try to erase history, the more that history will be pronounced in the public mind.
Dr. Yunus, you are wrong. You are interim, you are for a temporary period. You do not have a mandate to do so much. If you had gone through reforms and elections, people would have remembered you.
But your purpose seems to be different. You are trying to lead the country in the opposite direction by in league with the opponents of independence. Will you succeed in that? I don’t think so. Don’t you see how the people of Bengal were outraged by your statement of erasing all the past by pressing the reset button? Don’t you see how many lakhs of times the people of Bangladesh have uttered Joy Bangla because of the ban on Joy Bangla, don’t you see how the national anthem has been sung hundreds of times because the son of a slave insulted the national anthem?
Are you blind? Or deaf?
You cannot do it like this. The people are waking up. You will not be spared.
You have lost the mandate that the people gave you. Now you will not get it back even after a hundred attempts. The people have understood what you are and what you want. Remember one thing:
“The soil of Bengal is considered a stronghold for the wicked.”
