Canada has witnessed a record breaking wildfire season

Canada has witnessed a record-breaking wildfire season, with over one-hundred thousand square kilometres of land scorched.

This area is roughly the size of Lake Ontario, Lake Erie and Lake Michigan combined.

The Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre observes the majority of fires to be in Western Canada, with British Columbia housing the most active blazes at 373.

While these conditions are expected to improve in Eastern Canada, according to Emergency Preparedness Minister Bill Blair; unfortunately Natural Resources Canada predicts an intense summer for July and August.
