According to media reports, both were in the car that exploded. It sped up after passing a border checkpoint before entering the United States. The car then hit a bridge and exploded. It was not immediately known if there were any explosives in the vehicle.

Meanwhile, the country’s president’s office informed Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau about the matter after the car explosion. Canada is in contact with US law enforcement, they said. Canadian intelligence agencies are also assisting in the investigation.

Eyewitnesses said that they first heard a loud banging sound. Then he saw a coil of smoke at the scene. A person named Ivan Vitali said that they were in a shop near the scene. They saw a car running towards the bridge. Then he heard a knock. Fire and black smoke were immediately seen.

Local government official Ron Rinus said all four bridges connecting the United States and Canada over the Niagara River were closed after the explosion.
