Last August 4 was Momtaz Night. Apart from ‘Queen of Folk’ singer Momtaz, well-known face of Sylhet’s folk songs, Lovely Dev, the heartthrob of current young generation, Beli Afroz known as Beder Meye Josna Returns, our local up-and-coming singer Tama Pal, daughters of artist Momtaz Rohani and Rose, their friend Rodshi performed songs. .
The dance performance featured Tarana Performing Arts’ Tinni, Dalia, and Souchna. Later, on the request of Momtaz, these excellent dancers danced to her songs without prior preparation.
Danforth Music kept the entire auditorium engrossed in the estuary of tunes throughout the event. And the virtuoso instrumentalists who were the magic behind the scenes to make all the songs popular are town’s best keyboardist Zahid Bhai, Tabla player Ronnie Palmer, Drummer Rajib, Guitarist Paul and Sohel.
Organized by Sabuj Chowdhury, founder of Tanisha Entertainment and ZF Khan, CEO of Sehnai Entertainment, and with the support of many generous sponsors from the Toronto diaspora, the audience of the Toronto Pavilion, which was filled to the brim, enjoyed an unprecedented musical evening.
