Searching for the truth hidden in the darkness

The movie “Identity” directed by James Mangold enters such a dark world, where every character is a part of a puzzle. The movie is mysterious, psychological and its climax continues to create tension in the final stage. It is shocking.
The ground of the story is created on a terrible stormy night. One after another, ten people are trapped in a deserted motel for unknown reasons. One by one, they are all murdered by someone.
The question arises – who is the real murderer? And what is the reason behind this?
The most interesting aspect of the movie is its mind-boggling direction and making. At the beginning, the audience thinks that this is a simple slasher thriller. But as time goes on, the story gains depth and twists, turning it into a psychological puzzle.
Each character feels like a ‘puzzle piece’. John Cusack’s performance was the best. He is an ex-cop, who is the lead in this mysterious story and is also a part of the puzzle. On the other hand, Ray Liotta, Amanda Peet and others have acted very passionately.
The main attraction of the movie is its final twist. Gradually, another story starts to emerge within the story. Where it is understood that these events are not in reality, but are happening due to a psychological disease. The ten people in the motel are actually different personalities of one person. The idea of this ‘dissociative identity disorder’ is presented in the last part of the movie in a way that is stunning.
The cinematography of the movie, the stormy night atmosphere and its suspenseful background music, take the mystery of the story to a different level. There is a claustrophobic feel throughout the film, which also matches the theme of the story.
“Identity” is not just a thriller; it is a journey into a psychological world, where human complexities, guilt, and dark sides come together.
