Cyber security incidents at Toronto Public Libraries are being proactively addressed, the library said. This information was given by the library authorities in a statement on October 29.

According to the statement, the library’s website TPLDOTCA was damaged in the incident. User access to features such as the ‘Your Account’ interface and digital collections is disrupted. The same situation was created when the public computer and printing services of various branches of the city were also stopped.

According to the library, there has been no evidence of data breach of patrons and staff. The activities of the branches have started on schedule. Wi-Fi and telephone services are also available. Borrowing and depositing of books is still active.

The library said TPL was prepared to prevent any cyber-attack incident and took swift action to mitigate the potential impact. We are working with third-party cybersecurity experts to resolve this issue. However, it may take a few days for the library to return to normal operations. We are doing our best to resolve this issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this situation.
