Canadian Bengali Literature Festival

Organized by NRB Television’s Canada Journal, the Bengali Literature Conference, planned and directed by Subrata Kumar Das Dada, was graced by three Torontonian Poet Laureates, one of whom was Canadian Parliamentary Poet Laureate, George Eliot Clarke.

I had the good fortune to take an interview of Clarke on that stage, to present a piece of his rich literary collection to the audience, to shed some light on his written literature. About eighty talented writers from different parts of Canada rushed to our invitation to enrich this event, with hearts heavy with grief at the anarchy in their motherland.

Canadian Poet Laureates joined our country brothers and sisters in observing a minute’s silence, strongly condemning, mourning and protesting the recent unfortunate situation in Bangladesh. They watched in awe, applauding the unity of our community, patriotism, and the effort taken by the Canada Journal to promote the Bengali literary community.

In this way, more and more Abdul Jabbars can be created, literary works like ‘Salam, Salam, Hajar Salam…’ can be written. Thanks to Shahidul Islam Mintu Bhai, Subrata Kumar Das Dada, NRB Television, Weekly Bangla Mail and all concerned.
