The Canadian Army has sparked debate with its new supplementary icon and the tagline “Strong. Proud. Ready”. The pixelated brown and tan design features a maple leaf, a moose, and an oblong shape.
Conservative politicians were among those voicing criticism. MP Dan Albas suggested the Friday release was strategic, while MP Michelle Rempel Garner questioned if the design was a joke.
The Canadian Army clarified that the official logo remains unchanged. The new icon is intended for limited use in communications and video animations. A spokesperson confirmed the icon was created internally at no additional taxpayer cost.
