Toronto City Corporation has recognized the area from Danforth’s Main Street to Pharmacy Avenue, the Bangladeshi-dominated area of Canada’s commercial capital Toronto, as ‘Bangla Town’.

Councilor Brad Bradford of the Beach-East York area announced the official location as Bangla Town on Thursday (July 21) after the decision was taken at the council meeting.

In addition to Bradford, another contributor to the effort is neighboring councilor Gary Beckfoot.

Alam Shamsul Syed, Kafiluddin Parvez, Shakti Dey, Abul Azad, Shamsus Doha etc. were present at this time.

Councilor Brad Bradford praised the Bangladeshis and said it was a great achievement.

It should be noted that Toronto’s permanent Shaheed Minar is located in Dantonia Park next to the newly announced Bangla Town.
