The price of each item is 1 to 3 dollars per pound higher!! The question may arise, if the GST tax goes to the government’s fund, why have shopkeepers increased the prices thinking of their losses?
You will be surprised to hear that retailers or supermarkets collect GST from the customers and deposit only 25 percent of it, keeping the rest in their pockets as profit! After migrating to Canada 23 years ago, I was a shopkeeper in a market! There, an average of 80/90 thousand dollars were sold there on Friday and Saturday, but they showed the government that they had no sales discount!
Only 25 thousand! At that time, GST was collected at 13% of 25 thousand dollars! This is the rule of irregularities! The Canadian government knows this, but why is there no punishment? Because businessmen provide jobs for Canadian residents! Without them, unemployment will increase! And if small businessmen do not engage in such theft, their businesses will go bankrupt!
For these reasons, no one agreed to Justin Trudeau’s bold decision of GST relief! The buyers will not benefit from this, and the government will lose two billion dollars in the process!
