
Two films from the Bengali category will be screened at the 10-day Toronto South Asian Film Festival (IFFSA) from Thursday, October 10 to October 20. Mrinal Sen biopic “Padatik” produced by famous West Bengal director Srijit Mukherjee will be screened on October 12, Saturday at 7 pm at Cineplex Courtney Park Drive (110. Courtney Park Dr.East) in Mississauga. In this film of Srijit, the famous actor of Bangladesh Chanchal Chowdhury played the main role of Mrinal Sen! On October 13 at 6 pm, the same Cineplex will screen US expatriate director Lisa Gazi’s “Bari Naam Shahana”. This film has also been praised for its portrayal of the traumatized life of a helpless woman abandoned by her husband!
Famous Indian actress Shabana Azmi will attend the festival. Amar Singh Chamkila famous Indian director Imtiaz Ali is staying with Canada’s Deepa Mehta! The presence of Chanchal Chowdhury from Bangladesh is somewhat uncertain due to visa complications! Still we hope!
