Retailer Zellers is returning to Canada

Retailer Zellers is returning to Canada nearly a decade after shutting down operations nationwide. They also announced plans for 25 Zellers Store Experiences in Hudson’s Bay stores across Canada.

According to the company, Zellers will have an e-commerce site for the first time in addition to physical stores. Its address is Zellersdotca. They plan to open three stores in the Greater Toronto Area. One of these will be at the Mississauga Mills Shopping Center, one at the Scarborough Town Center and another at the Burlington Mall.

Locations where Zellers will open stores in Ontario include Erin Mills in Mississauga, Burlington Mall in Burlington, White Oaks Mall in London, Scarborough Town Center in Scarborough, Penn Center Shopping Plaza in St. Catharines, Cambridge Center in Cambridge, Rideau Center in Ottawa, St. Laurent Center in Ottawa and Cattaraqui Town Center in Kingston. .

According to the company, all stores in Canada will open simultaneously. Each store will have an area of 8,000 to 10,000 square feet.

In early 2011, US department store chain Target acquired the lease of 189 Zellers’ locations from the Hudson’s Bay Company. It cost them 182 million 50 million dollars. Of these, 125 stores of Zellers started operations under the name of Target Retailer.

This left the Hudson’s Bay Company with the remaining 64 stores. In 2012, they said that it is not profitable for them to operate them. As a result, Zellers closed all stores in Canada in 2013.
