Once the label of supporting anti-independence elements or helping them is attached to your name, it will remain with you for life.
Supporting anti-independence elements means betraying your own motherland, committing treason against your country. Don’t let that happen.
The country that has given you so much, the country where you have grown and flourished, do not betray it.
We have not forgotten the role of Al-Badr, Al-Sams, and the Razakars. They were people from Bangladesh, Bengali-speaking individuals. But they betrayed the country. The demands that were established through the movement of Bengali-speaking people of East Pakistan for their rights led to the creation of today’s independent Bangladesh. Breaking free from the exploitation of West Pakistan, the commitment to live freely led to the emergence of Bangladesh.
Yet, despite being Bengali-speaking, Al-Badr, Al-Sams, and the Razakars sided against this and cooperated with the Pakistani invaders in mass killings. They guided the Pakistani army in killing freedom fighters, and were complicit in the humiliation of countless mothers and sisters. They were the ones who called intellectuals to their deaths at the killing fields.
Supporting anti-independence elements today means forgetting the heinous crimes they committed in the past.
Now, you must decide whether to associate the label of supporting anti-independence elements with your name. Once attached, it will stay with you for life.
Be an opponent of autocracy, be an opponent of fascism, be an opponent of corruption, but do not support anti-independence elements.
That is betrayal of the country. Keep your name away from this association and maintain a safe distance from it.
Why does BNP want early elections?
There are several reasons for this. One reason is that if Dr. Yunus stays in power for too long, another power might come into play. If Dr. Yunus’s interim government is overthrown suddenly, the new government that comes might not be favorable for BNP.
Dr. Yunus’s government is vengeful against the Awami League. Therefore, if an election can be held quickly under this government, it will benefit BNP. At least it is certain that this government will not give any concession to the Awami League. If an election is held quickly under such a strong anti-Awami League government, BNP can achieve significant gains.
If Dr. Yunus stays in power for too long, there are many risks. The domestic and international situation is not very favorable for this government. If for any reason this government falls, the new government that comes might not be as anti-Awami League as Dr. Yunus’s interim government. The new government might try to create a level playing field for all parties and ensure the election is as fair as possible. In that case, BNP might not achieve the same level of success in an election held under a new government as they would under Dr. Yunus’s interim government. In fact, losing the election might even become a possibility.
Dr. Yunus’s interim government will create a level playing field in the anti-fascist unity, and the current election commission will also create a level playing field for anti-fascist parties. The Awami League will not be included in this playing field. If the Awami League participates in such an election, it will be at a huge disadvantage, and BNP will gain additional advantages.
Therefore, BNP wants early elections to avoid the risk of unforeseen circumstances.
