Forever 21 Faced Criticism Over Clothing Sizes

Some plus-size customers are questioning whether fashion giant Forever 21 is committed to inclusivity for all body types. They claim that plus-size clothing is becoming increasingly difficult to find in US stores and that the retailer’s plus-size social media accounts have disappeared.

Plus-size model and TikTok user Remi Bader posted a video to her 2.3 million followers, sparking a conversation among followers after Forever 21 deleted their plus-size Instagram account.

In the TikTok, Bader said, “Forever 21 took down their plus-size account. I think it’s gone.”

Badar also claims that a retail store approached them on behalf of a company to be a plus-size consultant.

Another TikTok user named Samira recently posted a video where she is seen visiting five different Forever 21 branches in Los Angeles in search of plus-size clothing. Only one of these stores had plus-size clothing, and that too was very limited.

Addressing her 1.9 million followers, Samira said, if Forever 21 truly cared about plus-sizes, they would stock them in the store. She further stated that one reason why shopping at Forever 21 is not enjoyable for plus-size individuals is that they won’t find any clothes.

In the context of recent concerns, Forever 21 has released a statement on their Instagram account. There, they have said that community feedback has played a role in keeping them aligned with their customers’ needs and values.

In 2019, Forever 21 closed all 44 of its branches in Canada. This step was taken after the Los Angeles-based company filed for bankruptcy. However, Forever 21 returned to the Canadian market after a deal with Hudson’s Bay Company allowed their products to be sold in the department store.
