I love to have fun. I’m very open with people who understand my personality. I even do things that make me blush. Sometimes, Ark and Aritri jump up from their seats when I’m around, realizing that I’m about to do something outrageous. They must think, ‘Oh no, he’s going too far this time!
I enjoy it when others are joking around. I laugh uncontrollably. For instance, Sohel. Being around him is so much fun. But Jasmine is very serious. Especially when I joke, she becomes overly serious. She thinks I’m joking about her. She only likes the humor of writers Moinul Ahsan and Lutfor Rahman Riton. She laughs her heart out when she reads their works.
I’m a bit shy around strangers and have trouble initiating conversations. But once, I did something quite unexpected. It was about five years ago, in December. It was bitterly cold. I had gone into a Bengali grocery store in the Danforth area of Toronto. I saw a lady holding open a copy of the ‘Bhorer Alo’ newspaper. The lady’s eyes were on the fourth page. I glanced at it sideways. The executive editor of this newspaper was me at that time, and my column was regularly published on the fourth page.
I could not suppress curiosity and said to him, do you like this magazine?
He turned his face and looked at me and said, Huh.
– Why do you!
– There are many things. I don’t have the magazine specifically for Anna. He writes about his mother, his home, the simple life of childhood and adolescence. Write the truth. Don’t hide anything. I have a lot in common. When I am at work, I read his writings whenever I get a chance. I read a text many times. Reading makes the mind light.
Standing next to me was the editor of the newspaper. He smiled and said, this is the guy you are talking to.
The lady looked at my face in disbelief. He said, this man is not him. She looks so dry, skinny. The man in the picture looks very good, cheeky.
I was saddened to hear the lady’s words. I have become so bad that you do not recognize me! The picture that is printed with the writing is a little earlier, but it is my picture! I was upset and stood outside in the cold…
